ABOUT POMSKY BREED

ORIGIN/HISTORY
The Pomsky is believed to have originated around 2009, in the United States and the first record of a Pomsky litter born in the U.S. was in 2012. This hybrid was developed by crossing a Siberian Husky with a Pomeranian, and it is mainly bred through artificial insemination to avoid complications.
A Pomsky typically has a soft, fluffy, silky coat, prick ears, and a furry tail that swishes over the back. The Pomsky is usually bred from a Siberian Husky female and a Pomeranian male. Breedings are usually done through artificial insemination because of the size difference between the two breeds.

General appearance of the Pomsky
Pomskies are bred to look like a smaller version of their Siberian Husky parent with the fox-like tail of a Pomeranian. A full-grown Pomsky is 12–35 pounds. They can have brown, amber, green, gray, or blue eyes, and even heterochromia (meaning each eye is a different color).

Temperament of Pomsky
Friendly, outgoing, Playful, Cheerful, Affectionate, Feisty, Sensitive, and Gentle

Body of the Pomsky
They can measure from 10 to 15 inches tall, and weigh between 20 and 30 pounds. These dogs have dense, double-coated, silky fur. Their hair can be black, gray, cream, white, fawn, or brown, but mostly, it is a combination of two of these colors.

Coat of Pomsky
The plush coat generally is 1-2.5” and has the same density as a wooley coat but not the length. It can be a similar length as the standard coat but has a fluffier texture, longer hairs on the tail, and longer on the ears, head, and legs.

Color of Pomsky
Because they hail from two multi-color parents, Pomskies can come in myriad coat and eye colors. Their coats can be any combination of brown, red, gray, blue, or white, and Pomskies can also inherit the same coat patterns as their husky parents, such as an adorable tuxedo or brindle look.
